Hello Unsworth families,
We are all excited to be welcoming families and students back to Unsworth on Tuesday, September 8, 2026! The staff will be busy preparing the school and classrooms for your arrival. Here are a couple of information pieces to get us started in Sept:
- Grade 1 – 5 students will be in session on Tuesday for 2 hours. The bell schedule will be:
8:15 – Warning Bell
8:20 – Classes Start
10:15 – Dismissal for the day
Returning students will line up at their spot from last year. Students will spend the morning in their classroom from last year and be dismissed from the same place as last year.
New students to Unsworth will come into the library through the front doors to start their day. We will get them joined up with their peers very quickly. They will be dismissed from the library at 10:15.
We will have signs posted around the school on outside doors with this same information.
Students do not need to bring anything on Tuesday except their smile.
Like all school parking lots, Unsworth has a busy one. Please follow the posted signs when dropping off and picking up. Please drive slowly and watch for students who may not be paying attention to traffic movement. We all want our students to arrive and depart safely. Please expect the parking lot to be busy and slow. Please do not block traffic on Unsworth Road by waiting to turn into the parking lot if it is jammed. Please be respectful of neighbouring properties when parking and ensuring we aren’t blocking driveways.
- We will be sending a digital newsletter home each Friday with the events for the next week.
- We know starting school can bring on the feelings of anxiety and nervousness. Talk to your child(ren) about it and let them know it is a natural way to feel. Talk about what they can do when they feel this way (deep breaths, counting, positive self-talk etc). Staying positive as the parent helps them see school as a great place. Let them know we have lots of helpful adults here if they need it. Us adults at the school will have first day nervousness too.

9:50 – 10:05: Recess
12:05 – 12:50: Lunch
2:25 Dismissal
