Peer Helpers

In September Mr. McLeod invites all grade 5 students to participate as a Peer Helper at Unsworth Elementary  All Grade 5 students are invited to fill in an application form where they can choose from a variety of tasks in and around the school.  From this application process, students are selected and trained in problem solving strategies, effective communication and scenarios…once that is complete…Students are assigned a variety of Peer Helper jobs around our school on a bi-monthly basis.

These jobs include:  Morning Announcements, Lunch time Office Helpers, Lunch time Classroom Monitors, Playground Peer Helpers, Soccer Referees, & Assembly Set Up just to name a few of their jobs.

These important jobs give our students an opportunity to learn valuable leadership & communication skills and how to problem solve in peaceful ways and give back to the Unsworth Community.  We are so very fortunate to have so many Grade 5 Students who freely give up their free time to help make our school so great…we couldn’t do it without them  Thank you, Peer Helpers
